Job Summary:

The Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (HTC) is a federally funded program that exists to identify, treat, and give access to care for persons with bleeding and clotting disorders in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. The HTC provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, education and consultative services for community physicians, and educational and other support programs for patients and their families. The work is organized into four sections: research, clinical care, advocacy and community service, and pharmacy services. This position functions within the Clinical unit of the HTC, providing clinical care for patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • This position will make complex daily clinical decisions. This RN will use physical assessment, and laboratory assessment, determine payment sources for treatment, and make follow-up plans for patients managed by our physicians with consultation with the physician, physician assistants, or nurse practitioners.
  • Provides research support to CRA, including blood draws, medical history, and physical exams.
  • Full participation in and attendance at outreach clinics, educational programs, and camps that may involve out-of-town travel, overnight and weekend time.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite at the CU Medicine Building, HTC, in Aurora CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Colorado RN licensure or ability to obtain Colorado RN licensure.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a registered nurse.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Condition of Employment:
  • Must have basic life support certification or ability to obtain basic life support certification.
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.
  • Position must travel to outreach clinics, weekend educational programs, offsite meetings, and training. Some evening and weekend home care or hospital visits may be required.

Some positions may require testing if access to Children's Hospital or their systems is needed at any time during employment with the University. Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 10 years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Pediatric advanced life support and/or ACLS certification.
  • Five years' experience in clinical service or three years of care coordination experience.
  • Hemostasis and thrombosis experience.
  • Advanced IV access and phlebotomy skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in computer skills with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records and databases.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Must have the ability to assist a diverse population of all ages.
  • Team player with the ability to train and educate others.
  • Demonstrates interest in serving patients with chronic conditions.
  • Able to transport patients as necessary which may involve lifting 50 lbs.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established as $80,000 to $96,000.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
