Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno, in partnership with Renown Health, is seeking an Administrative Assistant 4 to provide critical support for the Chair/Chief of the Department of Medicine in overseeing the clinical and academic functions that span both organizations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring seamless coordination of academic, research, and clinical activities while adhering to the policies and procedures of both institutions.
The affiliation between UNR Med and Renown Health offers a dynamic and collaborative environment for professionals dedicated to advancing academic medicine and healthcare excellence.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as the primary liaison between the Department, Renown Health, UNR Med constituents, and external agencies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Chair/Chief, including calendar management, meeting coordination, correspondence, and operational oversight.
- Facilitate departmental logistics and support initiatives such as community outreach, stakeholder relationship-building, and growth strategies.
- Oversee faculty recruitment, onboarding, and evaluations across UNR Med and Renown, including promotion and tenure processes and certification compliance.
- Coordinate departmental events, such as symposiums, fundraisers, and academic activities, and assist with research projects, including grant applications and IRB submissions.
- Manage departmental purchasing, faculty expenses, travel arrangements, and conference logistics, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Maintain department website content, liaise with IT for updates, and provide support for special projects and reporting.

Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR
- One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 29 (Entry, Step 01 $24.02/hr - Step 03 $26.07/hr)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
